Coatings for cleaner air

During the application process, many coatings emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These compounds are released from liquids or solids into the air as a gas. Unfortunately, VOCs are believed to contribute to ground-level ozone and smog, thus potentially causing adverse health effects. Coating manufacturers have been addressing this issue by reducing the use of solvents in formulations, which allows less coating to volatize into the air.
